I am replacing my aux and main tanks on 1991 gulfstream twin yamaha 150 o/b can i get advice as i have asked several marine mech and they are spilt if i should run fuel line from shut off valve then to fuel seperator then fuel pump, or shut valve/fuel pump/ seperator?

By fuel pump do you mean one of the old electric fuel primers? or a primer bulb?

yes the old electric fuel primer and would you know where i would find replacement electric primer pump its so old i can't find a make or number on the pump

I'm replacing the electric primers with the manual bulbs on my 272 Sailfish. One of my primers stopped working which left the engine dead... To me it isn't worth it to have an electric pump when I can just prime it by hand and know it is likely to never fail again. I added two Yamaha OEM Primer Bulbs in their place. I think they were about $25 each, and the new electric primer (which i don't think is made anymore was over $300). Save yourself the uncertainty of an electric component and get a Yamaha bulb.

As for the placement, it seems that most of the bulbs/primers are after the fuel water separators. Perhaps this is because the separator can't have pressure forced into it, and the pressure from pumping the bulb wouldn't reach the engine? I'm not sure. If you install the primer bulb after the separator, just remember that you shouldn't take the filter off when out of the water or you way not be able to suck a prime back through it with just the bulb. I had that happen once and had to get towed in when I had a single engine boat. Other than that just do shutoff, filter, primer bulb, engine. This seems to be the common way.

Thanks Mack i understand the bulb option but i would like to keep it original and i guess like the ease of the electric, after searching the internet for an hour i found out they were discontinued by Walbro, they now sell a smaller marine primer pump $130,00 each apeusa.com frb-13 but thanks for your time
