Just acquired a 1993 208 Adventure with a 2006 Yamaha 225 (exhaust corrosion kit already done) and want to add kicker to starboard side. I have seen a small offshore bracket posted on the forums that may work. Anyone done this before with similar engine?

How low does the stern sit with the 225? I am concerned about two things: Scuppers under water and possible a list to starboard with the kicker added. Originally the oil tank was on the port side and batteries on the starboard side. I assume the oil tank was removed but where are the batteries? If still in the aft starboard locker, you may need to relocate them (and the battery switches to the port locker for balance.

I will get back to you on that. I just acquired the boat and will be taking it out on Sunday. My recollection during sea trial is that scuppers were above water, how much above I do not recall.

Draft looks fine. Ran into other issues on the water which confirm the need for a kicker.

Kicker should be mounted on port side. Will track and steer with a bit more authority fwiw.

@Richard Szeg I have heard of people attaching to starboard side too because of that swim platform. Ideally I want port but let me see what my shop says and cost.

So guess what kickers are a bitch to order in covid. Dealer said a year. F that. Ordered online with a fixed extended bracket. So the question is can anyone give me general mounting info when mounting to the port side. Merc 9.9 high thrust 126lbs. Also any info on best practices to get fuel to this 2022 gem of a kicker.

I also got a kicker motor this fall. Putting in on a 228 with swim deck .Have made the bracket part that sits on the swim platform and now I need to make the support that goes under the platform to support the extra weight.
My question is , how is the angle bracket attached to transom. Is it lagged or through bolted. I was reading the transom on a gulfstream is 2.5 inches . I know through bolting is stronger, but hate putting holes in hull when not needed. All forces seem to be pushing into transon. Seems lags with 4200/5200 would work as well.

I will be bolting through with a backer plate. Adventure marine sells the bracket. Just arrived seems very high quality. Unfortunately I just got covid and have a 2 person job to do to hang the new kicker properly. It will need to wait a few weeks. I will check back in once mounted.

Looks great, have the same set up on my 208. Just finished installing two group 31 batteries on the port side to offset weight of kicker and bracket. Have not got it wet since install so hoping its a good balance.

Same, my main is tied to the kicker so steering from the helm or the AP (connected to the main) activates the kicker.

@grunt and all 208 owners. I ordered the same adventure bracket. High quality bracket. I also ordered a 2022 merc pro 9.9 25" kicker to mount. Well there is some damping rubber that had to get removed for the mount. Will send pics shortly but wanted to share.

Looks great, I have the same bracket but went with full helm control of the kicker. Did not realize how big the v6 F200 is. Enjoy the "break in" and quiet kicker trolling!

So on to the next endeavor. Trim tabs and also My 208 is plumbed for a rear back center livewell that should sit on the deck right before the notch. If anyone has experience with these mods let me know.

We just steer with the big engine when trolling...no need for anything else...simpler the better
