I installed a 2018 Yamaha F300 last year and placed it in the same position as my previous Vx250. I get a good amount of spray on either side of the engine and a pretty good rooster tail coming off plane that douses the engine when slowing to an idle. It did the same thing with the original engine as well. Is this something that could be remedied by going up or down a hole or is it just a function of the stepped hull bottom? Also, what prop is everyone running, I cruise at about 25mph at 4,500 RPM and top out at about 35mph at 5,400 rpm. I feel like it should be a bit faster, but it's an old heavy boat with a hardtop.
