any secrets to removing the console and side pockets?...want to have them changed in color from the brown to the white to match the rest of the interior. I just purchased the boat so i havent had a chance to see how these areas are secured. If anyone has done this a few helpful tips would be great (tools needed, number and type of fastiners etc...)

thanks

Side panels are easy, pop off the screws covers remover the screws, the side with the breaker panel was a little more difficult on mine, but first remove the screw covers, remove screws around the panel then remove the screws from around the breaker panel some might need you to hold a small bass nut on the backside that’s what happened to mine and slip the breaker panel through the side panel and your done should take no more than ten minutes with a power screw drive. I took mine to a body shop along the dash which again isn’t that hard to remove you will need to cut or disconnect the compass wire and they are painting it to match the gel coat ,painting the two small wood pieces jet black and the kick rails white. Purchase new screw covers from a good hardware store. You can paint it yourself as there are different vinyl paints available, I have just recently purchased a 98 208.Body shop is family so price ??

perfect...thats what i wanted to hear!....post some pictures when your done...!

so i was looking at the panels today and they seem to have a vinyl coating on them?...are you stripping that off before you paint?

No-- Google search painting vinyl a number of spray paints available and instruction how ,West marine has the paint and those white screw caps, the body shop said its like repainting a vinyl top car or dash board. You will need to clean and remove any oil or grease.

okay i think i've got a problem the console has been cracked and has been poorly repaired...i've contacted grady to see the cost of a replacement if possible?...i was hoping it was a fiberglass shell i did not know about the vinyl covering

i went ahead and did what i didn't want to do....i ordered new pieces from grady... :-|

On my Striper I used Dupont spectramaster vinyl paint. Sandy wrecked the boat but the vinyl seemed to hold up ok. I'm going to use it again on my Grady and I'll see how it lasts.

Is the new console fiberglass ,and if you don't mind about how were the different pieces as I'm hoping mine will hold up after painting .
