I'm in the process of upgrading the electronics on my 1999 Islander. Because the old dash box is to small for my new Raymarine C120W display and I wanted to keep the original mold intact I had a new flush-mount dash fabricated that fits into/over the original one. It is mounted on a hinge on the bottom and can be opened to access the dash box and the elecronics/instruments from the back. Here are some pictures of the progress.

Re: 1999 268 Islander --New Flash-Mount Dash for Raymarine C

Very Nice, so you had a complete new dashboard built, vs just a cover to the existing hole? Im looking to do something similar to my 265 dash, hoping I can just get by with starboard mounted over the entire opening.

Looks good, I had a C120 on my last boat, the C120W looks very nice.

I missed this post, whoa this is great.

I was thinking of the same thing but didn't know how to do it!

This way, both my Furuno FF and Garmin 4208 plus a bit more could fit, now i tak ete Furuno with me when leaving boat, it stays on gimbal.

Nice work, you had someone make a mold, or you did it yourself?
And it hinges up? I'd have to glass it in. I built a hatch into the top of the console for access since my door is now glass.

Salinity Now-
My original plan was to just cover the existing hole (see picture) but my instruments and the C120W wouldn't fit without cutting out some of the original console. Adding the new dashboard also gives me a better angle to view the screen.

BobP-
I had someone make the mold for me. And yes- it hinges on the bottom. That way I can easily access the back if necessary.

Who did it and if you don't mind my asking, what did it cost?

It was done by Glen Page from Boat Repairs Inc. in Pompano Beach. Cost was around $1500.
