'2000 Yamaha 250 TX Overheating

Hey guys;
I was leaving for vacation this morning and my port engine overheat alarm went off after about 10 minutes at 3,800 rpm. I shut down the machine and went back to my berth on one engine. It looks like the waterpump is operating since the stream of outflow was the same on both machines. I only have 175 hours on each.
Any ideas??
 
It is either the water pump, t-stats (yes there are 2 of them) or your poppit valve aka pressure relief valve . Good news is all items can be changed while boat is in the water. Parts are not that expensive either.

over heat over 3000 is usally poppet
i would do the t-stat, water pump including housing and clean the poppet
 
I only have 175 hours on these engines. Is it common to have to replace this many parts with these amount of hours?

You only have 175 hours but it's over 8 years. How often do you flush the motor?
