2004 282 Sailfish Trailer Question

I have just recently pruchased a 2004 Grady White 282 Sailfish that was lift kept. I do not have this luxury and run across a deal on a galvanized self adjusting bunk trailer manufactured by load-rite trailers. I was curious if anyone had any advice on adjusting this trailer. I am concerned that the bunks are not exactly where they need to be. Does anyone have and helpful hints or any experience with this type of trailer??? It appears to do a great job at supporting the boat at multiple points.

I called load-rite they told me that they did not adjust the trailer the dealer does that. Have you found that to be the case with all brands or am I not talking to the correct person at load-rite?
 
Boatmaster makes one for 272-282 that is custom fit to bottom contour.
I will take pics of mine tomorrow & post them

That is correct. A good boat yard will usually use a travel lift to raise the boat and then adjust the trailer to fit. Before doing that and since you got a 'deal' verify that the trailer load rating is sufficient for your boat, motor fuel and gear. The MGW rating should include the weight of the trailer also. Check that the trailer is long enough for your trailer and that it has enough rollers for the load. If all that works out, find a good yard. The set up should include a tongue weight measurement/adjustment.

I appreciate the help guys I am going to get it adjusted when I head back to the ocean in a couple weeks. The GVW of the trailer is 12,500. So I am pretty sure that is ample plus it is not going to get towed but 2-3 times a year, the other time would be just pulling it out and parking it in the yard.

Do you guys happen to have a suggestion for a new anchor? It came with a plow type but I am thinking of putting a fx-11 fortress I have read some good reviews about that brand. Or should I leave the plow anchor?

You are probably OK. That hull with motors runs about 10,000 pounds. Add the trailer and gear/fuel and you are close. If you have full tanks, you will be overloaded.
