Not the best of pictures, and also not my boat, but it appears to be a decent looking boat from the pictures as long as you double check the motor for the dry exhaust corrosion issue and everything else. Looks like a nicer, newer aluminum I-beam trailer, only 566 hours on the motor, has the hardtop, bow pulpit, full swim platform and best of all no bottom paint for those that want a boat without it. At $31k, if it's the real deal, I don't think it'll last long at that price. Good luck and happy hunting!

Very nice deal if it all checks out.

Even today I suspect you may get the occasional seller who's viewing the pricing through the lens of what they paid for the boat in the pre-covid environment, as opposed to surveying the market in a detailed way. Seemed to happen that way for me at least (granted over a year ago); my seller mentioned his pre-spike purchase price and didn't seem to be overly aware of the market movement since he was less plugged in than most of us.

Seller sent me a bunch of pics. After reviewing them he and I are still in discussions. I’ll keep everyone posted. In the meantime if anyone wants a clean 99 225 Tournament now is a great time to contact me…..

Does it come with the cushions? I noticed the pictures aren't too great but it doesn't appear to have the cockpit bolsters and didn't see any cushions on the seats from what I could tell. Good luck though and let us know how it all works out!

The cushions exist. The curtains for the hardtop are missing. No bolsters on this boat.

A fellow GG’er is now the proud owner of the boat. I’m sure he will be along to share the good news.
 
You are right Parthery. It sold and it now resides on the left coast of Florida. I left Venice at 5 am, met the owner and his son at a beautiful little park/boat ramp in Vero Beach at 9:30. I poked around in the boat for a while, chatting with the owner. The owner has such back problems he couldn't get in the boat so his son took us out. It ran fine. Running against a steady wind, at 4700rpm it cruised at 27mph GPS speed. Turning around it ran at 30mph at 4700rpm going with the wind. While doing this I was back near the engine looking down at the leg and it appeared to me first of all(and I am unfamiliar with this bracket setup) that the motor is mounted too low as the anti-vent plate was totally buried and making a hell of a commotion. I think with better trimming of the leg and possibly changing motor height those cruising speed number would change for the better. WOT was 5600rpm at 38mph. Again, I think the leg was trimmed in too far. The boat looked better in person than it did in the pictures. Mostly it is just dirty. The cushions are not the best but easily made right. Just have to rub money on them. I agreed to $28K and by noon he had his money and by 6pm it was sitting in our shed.

Good for you John, With the price of boats today you did well. Does not look that dirty from the pic. I have been wanting to upgrade from my 208 for years, but finding one for a good price is getting more difficult, especially in my corner of the country. Good luck and enjoy!!

Sounds like both parties were happy with the outcome and I'll definitely agree that the boat looks much better in the above picture than the ones on the Boat Trader website. Which is one of my gripes with using their site, the pictures usually don't look so great and when you magnify them they get even more grainy. Did you have the motor checked out at all or just roll the dice? I'm kind of surprised the seller took $3k less for the boat, especially since it seems like he just listed it on Tuesday. Either way, sounds like a good boat and for a very good deal... I bought mine for $26.5k last year and was thinking about offering $25k but I didn't want there to be an issue with me losing the boat over $1,500, especially when it was an out of state purchase for me back on the east coast. Good luck with the boat and post a few more pictures when you get the chance!
 
Thanks John for the kind invite! Never been to Florida but what an opportunity. With the CD against the USD it gets a little too heavy for my pocket. Was thinking you just might bring your 228 up my way for a sea trial in the pristine waters off Vancouver Island. You would be welcome in my home! I am sure your 228 has never seen this part of the Pacific before. Anyway, enjoy the new ride and include some pics when you get a chance. Fortunately living vicariously is still legal !!!
