Looking at a 2005 Seafarer, there are a two small 1" spider cracks eminating out from the bow rub rail about a 1/4 of that way from the bow and there is one just next to the 2nd bow rail stem about 5 " long 3 each..wondering what this means , how would these have been formed ? Is this due to some trauma to the side bow area or on the water stress..is this something to be overly concerned about and can be repaired..would it tend to get worse over time..is it worth a risk on the boat , everything else looks ok.

Thanks

If the cracks are coming from the bases of the rails, then likely the boat ran into a dock using the rails as a 'bumper'. Or else some big heavy guy put all his weight on the rail. It happens. If it is just a few cracks eminating from the rail base, then probably not a big deal.

However, it also COULD be a sign of water intrusion under improperly mounted rail stems, where water got in and froze. But if its just a few cracks, probably impact. And probably not a big issue.

Assuming you're going to have it surveyed (when you get to that point) just point out the area to the surveyor and he/she can test for moisture intrusion.
