Ive recently taken ownership to a 2006 208 adventure. Very excited. I am a scotty downrigger user and would like to understand what mounting is recommended. I have ruled out the rod holder/gimbal mount and am curious if folks have experience with the 1036 mounting plate through the gunnel cap (my preference) vs the 1025 right angle mounting plate which Ive also seen used on these boats. I do use 15lb downrigger balls and have a brutus crab pot puller which will rely on this mount.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I used the 1026 pedestal swivel mount, boulted through the gunnel with 3/8 "or 1/2 inch aluminium backing plate. Also use the mount with my prawn puller for pulling sometimes rock stuck and or loaded prawn traps with no issues. Mounted just forward of the stern seats.

So I'm swimming against popular opinion here, I use the rod holder for my Scotties (1 crab puller, 2 downriggers). I've seen no flex, no
problems with the crab pots.

X2 on the pedestal mount. I think with a backing plate, you can bring up the Titanic with it.

Look at the Burnewin mounts, they are super versatile and no extra holes in the body

Are the Burnewin mounts a swivel mount?

I mocked it up and there is a little overhang on either side of the gunnel. I assume this is to be expected? Is a little visually displeasing i gotta say but relative to the $690 price tag of the burnewiin i think I can live with it.
