2006 250 4 strokes, do they have exhaust issues and how many is too many hours?

The title pretty much sums it up. I have in the past looked past a boat because it had 2500 hours or so. Should I be considering something like that if it's been well maintained? I know the 225's have the exhaust issues but not sure about the hours on those as well. Any insight would be appreciated.

I have 2006 F250s and the port one (LF250) had the corrosion issue at 240 hours and was covered under the warranty. The other one was scoped and was and is fine. I now have 1000 hours on them with no issues. They don't use any oil and run like new. I think usage and maintenance are the key. I've heard of them going over 5000 hours with no major problems.

Thanks, I have heard reports of 3 to 5 thousand hours expectancy depending on maintenance and abuse. How they've been treated can't really be verified other than just looking over condition. One of the boats I'm looking at has 2500 hours on 06 F250's and it's priced accordingly but seems to be well maintained.

I agree, mine are 05 250's port side replaced last year at 1500hrs starboard side no corrosion, crazy.. no oil burn and run perfect.

Years and hours to be factored. I had my 05s replaced after scoping them for a few years. Did it proactively.

I have twin 2006 F250s with 1,350 hours and so far so good. Will check again after layup.

2500 hours is a pretty good amount... one of my 2002 F225's through rod at 1800 hours and I owned them since new...meticuously maintained...that was the first year of the F225 so maybe that had something to do with it ..... was only running 3800 RPM...never had corrosion....

Personally, I am ok with 1000- 2000 recreational hours since I run a yamaha 115 within those hours, but after 2000 hours I would be concerned, especially after 15 years. These are mechanical machines and will last a long time if treated well, but not forever. Most of the engines that reach 5000 hours are the ones that run 8-10 hours per day, everyday.
