2013 250 ETEC No Oil Warning

Anyone familiar with this?
A friend went to Bimini on the 4th and after diving all day cranked up and got a no oil warning. Boat went into safe mode and they went back to the marina at 1100 rpm's.
Traced out all oiling issues and found that the motor was oiling but couldn't clear the warning.
Got towed back by Sea Tow.
Any similar experiences?

Did he try the auto winterization procedure to see if it cleared the fault? There are threads on this at ETEC site, here is one:
