I'm a new 2014 307 Freedom owner that is trying to run power for my downriggers. Port side was easy. Starboard looked impossible . How did you run the power for your reels on the starboard side?

Port side is easy! Starboard side I had to remove the AC power cord connector and snake a wire up to a new hole for the 12 volt power.

After taking the AC power cord plate off, you snaked down to the batteries, then were able to pull a line back up to the plate?

Yes. Pull the receptacle out on it's power cable to get access. I drilled a hole for the Marinco 12 volt connector next to the AC power. Wire down to battery area. Installed a small fuse block to power my kite reels.

Take a look at post#3. Excuse the cable mess...this has since been cleaned up.

Just what I needed. Will be at the 307 on Friday. I'll update with the good news after.

Thanks,

Bill

Try to mounted the receptacles plug upside down under the gunwale to keep socket dry.

What did you mount yours to? Nothing but air above mine. And the back of the connector is open.

The mount shown above is dry behind it. Receptical has a cover.

I use Scotty Downrigger plug. It comes with side mount socket that I mounted with two screws directly under to the gunwale. Can take pics next time if needed.

I use for almost 30 years the CEE 16 2 pole plugs as they work well, but are bulky.
A trolling motor plug (or th Scotty one) will be much smaller and can carry higher loads than a cigarette lighter plug.
You can install the receptacle on a watertight box for electrical installations outdoors and screw the box somewhere under the gunnel, i had this on my BW 23 Outrage.

A hint regarding snaking cables:
Old push/pull cables for outboard control had a SS wire inside and that is perfect for snaking wires thru wired shaped places as it can be bent to shape and is stiffer but still flexible than usual nylon cable fish tape. Unfortunately new push/pull control cables have a plastified multistrand wire inside what does not work well as the SS wire does.

Finally got time to post the tools I had to use when I ran wires for adding a downrigger. The coat hanger was key. Reaching to the starboard wall with the coat hanger pole did the trick.

Exactly what I had to do. Remove the main power outlet and work thru the hole to get wires to the battery compartment.

For a minute there I thought that was your gaff (Yikes!).
