2015 Seafarer 226 - Thoughts???

If I try for top speed on calm water without wind and tide against, trimmed out, about 47 maybe 48 MPH (5900-6000 RPM) with 2 on board, full tank, full water and full of gear. I'm spinning a Yamaha17" prop that came with the boat.
I mostly cruise at 4000-4500 and speed depends if I'm heading out with waves and weather against ( will be trimmed in and maybe a tab down) or coming back with waves and wind behind me. I go out in big waves 6'+ but not normally sort periods so it's like going up and down hills all the time, she loves downhills.

Thanks for the numbers Hoon! I was curious to what other guys are running with a 250. I have a 2016 vmax 250 on my 228. I’m running right at the 50 mph mark but maxing out at 5700 rpm.

The 4.2l 250 on the 226 is good for 44mph to 47mph or so. I hate these discussions because before their done there’s always someone saying their same boat with same motor does 5 - 10mph more than everyone else’s.

I’m just collecting data for myself. thanks for the info!

I do not beat myself up any more. The boat can do more probably. But I can't anymore. 4200-4500 rpm 20-25mph on the boat depending on tide etc. I'm good with it

Yeah idk my 226 with hardtop pulpit windlass 50 gallons of fuel, no water, and no enclosure up hit 42.5 on gps the other day. It was a 30 second hold on wide open could maybe have gotten more. The bottom has 15 years of bottom paint that isn’t smooth at all and blotchy. The prop is a 17P turning 5800 SW series. As far as wind and current I think it was pretty slack if not going with me idk. Just bought the boat and was only time opening up. Plan to strip bottom next year. 3.3L 250

My boat has the late model bracket, they are longer than the older brackets, I don't know if that has an effect on speed, I know it has more flotation as it is bigger. The speed stated is under ideal conditions checked on GPS , the Yam speedo shows about the same so no current .
I just checked GW website the figures are bellow, I noticed they say max RPM 5800, I definitely get 5900 and I have a big transducer on the transom. I estimate my boat weight about 5600-5700 lbs , they say 5361, they may have weighed it , mine is an estimate but I have had her weighed on the trailer. My boat is clean bottom and very shiny . My prop is the same as their test 15 1/2X17" SW SII.
That was when I first got the boat, I don't normally run it at full throttle and I can only do that in calm water inside Sydney harbour.
Most of my running is in open sea at much slower speed and much more fuel use.

The following is a list of variables that can affect performance:

Sea trial went great and was able to get a survey that pointed out some paint flaking on the tank and a rust screw on the anchor light. Boat handles the mess really well. Otherwise boat is clean and took delivery. Been blowing about every day and will share performance once I have some good #'s. Appreciate all the guidance from the group.

Here's the pic from the USCG plate.

Wow awesome congrats. You bought the last year 226 that’s awesome with the black windshield frame. Post more pics and performance numbers.

Also you can raise that seat back on the port seat with an Allen wrench to match the starboard side
