Looking to purchase a 1992 22 seafarer has a 1992 225 evinrude on a closed transom. asking price is 5500$ boat is clean engine condition is questionable. Any words of advice. Is it worth it. ?

Fitch motors tend to have problems . The ocean pro is much better Just a FYI but yeah
Price is right !
I have a 1992 Seafarer. Very solid and good riding boat. I re-powered this year on the cheap with a low hour fresh water HPDI. For 5500 I don't see how you can get hurt. I believe that the 1992 is a SeaV2 hull.

So that's such a low price, if you are handy, sure. If you aren't then I'd spend some money to have a surveyor go through it. If you have to repower with a new engine it's going to be pushing $20K. So you want the hull to be solid. Older gradys had wood in them that rots, you want to figure that out.

I can attest to owning an older Seafarer, mine being an 87. I too was told to avoid the fitch outboards and that my loopers were much more trouble free. I gave 2,400.00 for my 226 including trailer a few years back and spent around 9 months doing a restoration. New fuel system (including tank), wiring, bilge pumps, Steering lines, control cables, electronics, through hull drains, lower unit rebuilds, and tune up service on the 140's. Now she really performs well and with a recent detail doesn't show her age.
