I'm looking to buy a Cannon Tournament Uni Troll 10 downrigger for my 228. At this stage, I'd rather not drill holes in the Gunwalls, so am thinking about mounting the downrigger on a Gimbal mounted in the rod holder.

My question is, what is the depth on the rod holders in a 228? 9" or 12" Why don't I look myself? haha - fair enough, but my boat is in the US and I'm in Aus, waiting to find an envelope big enough for it to fit in and be sent home! In the meantime, I'm supporting the US economy and buying a few things whilst I wait to ship with it.
Also, what are the dimensions of the helm lockable electronics box? Or, what is the size is the biggest GPS / fishfinder combo I can fit. Would it fit a HDS8 Lowrance at all?
