228 Livewell Support Arm

Tried finding a prior post but with no luck for a 228...

I am looking to replace the arm of my livewell (2000 228). I saw someone recommended 625-3-30-A1A1 for the overnighter. Is it the same arm as the 228?
 
I guess you mean the gas strut that holds the lid up. You have to get one the same length as the one you currently have , if memory serves they are 20 lb .
 
Thanks for sharing. That's actually the thread I found. Going to double check to see if there are any numbers on my gas strut and then refer to that thread.
 
This is a new one I bought for my baitwell lid. These were the numbers I had when I purchased the new ones, matched what was there.

Thanks for all the help with the gas struts...I ended up buying one with slightly less strength due to shipping costs, plus was about 10-15 less than the 55lb

I just installed today and it worked...$28 for shipping and all

 
Sorry for not clarifying...

This was for the livewell between the two stern seats....

I believe you need 625-3-45 which is what others buy...Think the same marina is selling 5lbs less...

might be worth a try for the cost difference...

 
I realize that this thread has been about the livewell hatch strut, just asking if the livewell and the helm seat hatches use the same strut?
You are using the 7.5" instead of the 10". Does the hatch open all the way, or does it lean forward?
 
The livewell goes completely vertical using the 625-2. However, I think the two latches behind the seats would not go up all the way using it because the positioning is not the same. I can take a pic of what it looks like the next time I am by the boat.

The 625-3 goes to 10in and I think those extra 2.5 in makes a huge difference from an access perspective.
 
No problem....

It could be how the strut is installed on yours. My livewell wouldn’t close if I had the 625-3 because it compresses to 7 not 5 or so. I would need to movewhere it attaches to
 
amamola is correct. 625-3 is for the boxes behind the helm seats, the 625-2 are for baitwell.

Here's a pic for comparison. The longer ones are the 625-3's. Both sets of mine are the 55# ones.

10" is fairly standard for the lids (aft fish boxes are longer). #30 is what the factory uses.

The strut is stainless from Maxum Hardware on the web.
Both my live well and bait rigging station are the 10" 30lb gas spring EFC-10M, item number 625-3-30-A1A1.
The large aft fish box has a longer one. I believe the next size up on the chart 13".

Just be aware of the prices plus shipping. That’s why I ended up buying on eBay from a marina I believe in SC.

$23 for the 625-3-40 (little more lbs)
$28 for the 625-2-50

The strut in the photo says it is 55 pounds, an odd number and I suppose a 50# as would be fine. I do not know what the difference between the middle digit '3' and a '2' The manufacturers phone number is printed on the strut and maybe that can advise.
