232 Gulfstream being discontinued

Learned at the Anacortes boat show: Grady White recently confirmed to its dealers that a final decision has been made to discontinue production of the 232 Gulfstream. The model is still shown on the GW website as the Gulfstreams having begun manufacture will still be delivered to dealers in the next couple months. GW has no plan to replace the 23-foot walkaround cabin model with anything else below the 300 Marlin. (Nothing announced about the 218 Adventure, but GW trend for cabin boats appears to be toward larger, more expensive models.)

That is really disappointing. 208 gone, 228 gone, sorry 218 people, but that boat is a downgrade from those models, the euro transom cuts into your deck space a lot. I can't imagine trying crab from either a 208 or a 218.

And now the 232 gone.

It sure seems like Grady just wants to sell big ticket items but where does that leave the rest of us?

I'm assuming it must be a lack of sales thing, as I can't imagine they'd discontinue a model that makes them a considerable amount of profit/sales every year. Which is interesting because I see 226/228 Seafarer's and 232 Gulfstream's quite often, yet I don't think I've seen a 218 Adventure outside of a showroom as of yet. I think they should ditch the 218 Adventure and keep the 232 Gulfstream, though obviously that's just my opinion on the matter. That being said, I remember someone posted a picture on here of the Grady White factory and it seemed like 90% or more of the boats they're building were a DC/CC style of boat. I think there were only maybe 1 or 2 walkarounds in the entire place.

It wasn't selling a lot of units. I was told by a Yami rep that the open bow DCs account for the vast majority of sales.
