235 Anchor question

Hello, all. I am installing a bow roller and windlass on my 235 and want to know what kind of anchor you recommend to go with the OEM system. I was considering the Delta (galvanized, 14lb). Will this fit appropriately? Is the 22 the right size instead?

Either delta or plow. A 13 or something a little heavier. Depends on where/what kind of bottom you are anchoring on.

I installed the 5 Oceans pivoting anchor roller - the more expensive one! Different boat and I had to do some glasswork. Works great.

Ignore the glasswork. Pulpit wasn't in great shape. Ground out gelcoat and repaired. Waiting for paint this Spring. Underneath the old part was filled. The pulpit had to be notched for the new part and allow the anchor to pivot.




This setup allows me to launch and retrieve anchor with the windlass without going up forward.

Took me a little while to get around to refinishing the boat pulpit after the rework for the pivoting roller.

Agree with Hookup's approach....grind, fill with epoxy filler, epoxy primer/sealer and paint. I re-did mine the first time with evercoat polyester filler (had bigger chunks missing in mine and one large crack I had to grind down quite a bit) and re-gel coated. I have a post on here somewhere showing the results. It turned out great! But after a couple seasons, more gelcoat was still cracking in places as I think it was too think to be flexible as the pulpit will bend and flex more than other areas, so I resanded, filled and painted with Interlux.

Delta is a brand of plow anchor. So, yes, generally a plow style is the easiest choice. But that's not to say other styles won't work - it all depends on the roller setup and the proximity to the bow keel.

14lbs is MORE than enough for a small boat. Especially if you have chain. But even with all rope, it's still plenty. If it fits, it never hurts to go bigger, though! But 14-pounders are used on boats bigger than yours.
