Hello, all. I am installing a bow roller and windlass on my 235 and want to know what kind of anchor you recommend to go with the OEM system. I was considering the Delta (galvanized, 14lb). Will this fit appropriately? Is the 22 the right size instead?

Either delta or plow. A 13 or something a little heavier. Depends on where/what kind of bottom you are anchoring on.

Took me a little while to get around to refinishing the boat pulpit after the rework for the pivoting roller.

Delta is a brand of plow anchor. So, yes, generally a plow style is the easiest choice. But that's not to say other styles won't work - it all depends on the roller setup and the proximity to the bow keel.

14lbs is MORE than enough for a small boat. Especially if you have chain. But even with all rope, it's still plenty. If it fits, it never hurts to go bigger, though! But 14-pounders are used on boats bigger than yours.

A claw (a brand name is Bruce) is sometimes grouped under the plow type but they're so different that that grouping is just wrong. A plow is named such because it looks like, well, a plow and behaves as such. A claw works differently The two types dig-in in different ways. I think if we classify a claw as a plow because it digs-in then we might as well classify a Danforth as a type of plow.

The generic classification is wrong. Just because somewhere along the line some people mistakenly started referring to it as a plow and the name stuck (he-he!) doesn't make it right.

Both work just fine for me...

I prefer the claw in the FL Keys with all the coral. And 20' of chain is important. I get it back most of the time. The Danforth is a looser - always bending it and not working afterwards.
