If you have limited experience with boats, experience it will be hard for you to make a sound decision but you can get hopefully a 'feeling'
In general if the boat looks like crap, it wasn't properly cared for. On the other hand, if it looks really really good, it probably has been detailed and that can cover up issues.
If on land, how long has it been stored? When was it last used in the water?
Remember there are lots of expensive things besides the hull, that can be problems.
If you are interested in going forward, get a survey and a motor inspection. Do not sign any documents or sale papers unless they include provisions for the survey and remedies if needed.
