Need to replace the aft bilge pump in my 2003 257 Advance. Access is limited to the two access holes in the splashwell, so does anyone have any tips on doing the removal/reinstall. It looks like I need to stand on my head in the splashwell to get to it. Also, does anyone know what brand/model the pump is? It does not appear to be a Johnson, Shurflo, or Rule. Thanks

I have a 2005 257 Advance - Grady's two circle access hatches in the transom are terrible in terms of providing adequate access - i replaced those with two rectangle larger hatches which makes access much easier - well worth it.

Also, I just replaced mine in November 2013 - boat came with Atwood aft bilge pump, we replaced with a Rule (believe it was 1,700 - 2,000 GPH) - installed with a separate float switch. Float switch is wired to the "hot" lug of the battery selector switch so that the float always has power versus the manual accessory switch on the helm (only works when battery selector switch is in the "on" position.
