265 dome light

The helm dome light has a switch for the white and red lights and another
switch for the spreader lights. the spreader light switch is broken and needs replacing.
I tried to unscrew the dome unit from inside the upper compartment, they turned but didn't loosen the unit.
how do you take them apart?

Remove the cover by removing two small screws. Remove the bulb. Mine had a screw under the bulb holding the fixture to the e box. The switces can be removed by loosening a small ring nut on the inside of the lamp housing securing the switches.

I assume that your dome light is the same as the dome on my 2006 228.

Have you removed the clear plastic cover/lens? I used a utility knife to help unseat the plastic tabs holding the lens in place. Removing this bulb lens exposes the bulbs and the screws which screw upward into the ebox(not downward from the ebox). Once these two screws are removed pop the dome assembly off and get to the push buttons which is likely your problem.
