I just put boat in water. Both seacocks are closed that go to head yet the bowl is filling up with water. Can anyone help?

Last time I checked, there was one way in and one way out. Is the water coming in while you are under way or just sitting at the dock? Are you sure you closed - full horizontal position - the two seacocks through the access plate in the cuddy floor? Need more info on this one.
 
Yes both valves are closed. Seacocks in cuddy. Water is coming in while just sitting at dock. Flushed water into holding tank come back to boat later and water is in bowl.

It's been a while -so may not have this right.
I assume it is a manual pump Jabsco head - right?
As I recall there is a switch that allows water in and one to pump the waste into the tank.

In normal operation, you set it to the water side and pump a bit to get water into the bowl. After use, you set the switch to the tank and pump it into the tank. After, you switch it back and put more water into the bowl.

I'm guessing you may not switching the switch back to the water side after pumping the water into the holding tank. Could you be slowly pulling water back from the holding tank back into the bowl because of this?
 
Well, this one sure is a mystery. The bowl is above the waterline and above the holding tank. Not sure how water goes uphill. How full is the holding tank? Maybe your vent line is clogged and the tank is getting pressurized with either the pump action or heat expansion and pushing back into the bowl. I would call Grady White customer service and ask for their input.
 
Is the Jabsco pump working correctly? I had a simlar issue with mine, back filling water and it was being supplied (or so I assume) from the waste holding tank, as I had vaccu-sucked it out but ran lots of water back into for flushing.

Found a new replacement pump on Amazon for $45, 3 hose clamps, 6-8 screws later it pumps, fills, drains, and locks like a charm. Apparently they did a change on the check valve seal on newer models and its made a big improvement in performance.


(not to de-rail, but what do you guys use for odor blocking? I tried that dry powder stuff at West Marine, and HOLY COW does it make a difference, not sure how long its good for though)
 
I am adding a lewmar vent, the heads really should have a better setup with hatch window.
 
Hi Ducone, Do you have a picture of lewmar vent for the 265 heads. I am hopping to do the same. If not. Will you tell me what model of lewmar vent that you are using. Thank you!
 
Sound like it could be the joker valve. The joker is a one way valve that prevents backflow into the head. The routinely wear out and need to be replaced every couple of years. Easy repair at the head itself. about $15 at West Marine or Amazon
