Hi all

I am currently in the market for an offshore fishing boat and the 265 express has some great reviews. Some questions:
1. how stable is 265 on anchor, if possible how does compare to boston whaler 255 conquest. General performance
2. if you are aware of any considering to sell in excellent condition (would i be better waiting until start of spring)

hello, the 265 is a great boat ! handling takes a little getting used to at 1st though, nothing a few times out cant fix. kind of like a cowboy movie where the cowboy gets stuck with some wild bronco that he has to break, but when does...hes got the best horse going !! ive had this boat at anchor in 3-5' with an occasional ? with out any concern. being an express though, a cc or w/a would make the task of anchoring more user friendly. .....never been on a whaler. good luck !!

Thanks tilewave for your reply

Just started the search hopefully i can find the right one

I would agree with all above- I did look at the Conquest when I was shopping, but the 265 feels like a much bigger boat. There is nothing wrong with the Conquest at all, but I am not sure that is a fair comparison.

I have the 265 with the F225's, in my opinion it is the perfect setup for this boat. It has some get up and go, plenty of power to throw a lot of water (which it does real nice) and enough quieter than the 2 strokes that after a long run your head is not about to blow up. The slight disappointment is the fuel consumption. The Yamaha performance reports are very generous with this setup. I am typically 1.5mpg's at best. I have heard that the 2strokes are typically a little less thirsty at cruise.

Have you had a chance to actually get a ride on a 265? Most of the 265 owners I know would be happy to give you a tour of their boat and maybe even bring you along for a ride. Just do a search here on the forum and you will find tons of overviews & discussions on the boat. I can't compare to the BW but extremely happy with mine. Although my two strokes are to date almost bulletproof, 4-strokes would be nice . . .

I'm in your same shoes as for finding a 265, I'm hoping I made a good choice as I've sealed a deal and bought a 2001 model w/OX66 250's from Alabama, I either got lucky or bought a lemon but it was the best priced one I could find on the market. I'm sure your doing searches on boattrader, but there are afew that have recently popped up with F225's. Taking delivery of mine on Monday, then the real fun starts outfitting like I want. Good luck in your search!!

Thanks for your imput guys. I am planning on coming over the states in may unless i find a boat prior. If i don't, a ride in one would be fantastic.

if your in new jersey vicinity, i will take you out on my 265....you may have to endure a little striped bass fishing though

I am living in Australia, Adelaide making my search that little bit harder!!! You guys have been great, best forum site i have been on thus far. In may i will be hading over to san fansico, new york, virginia and florida.

Another very happy 265 customer here-

No problem on the hook -

This boat can take more than I can -

As far I am concerned this is hands down the best boat in its size for what I use it for - hardcore fishing with some family time and overnighting mixed in.

Tim

Have you contacted jekyl on this forum? He is a 265 owner in Townsville, AUS (per his sig). No clue where that is but a lot closer than the US to you!

Edit - just checked Google Maps. You might need an airplane to Queensland for that trip . . .

The 265 is the BEST 26' outboard cabin boat around!
I've had mine for 6 years now!

Well said Tim! If it was a few feet longer and had a small aft sleeper I would never look at another boat again.
