I checked my scupper hoses on my 2004 265 and as others have observed, the hoses are cracked with rust stains. The bottoms feel intact and the hoses don't appear to be leaking, but I'm concerned because I couldn't check the entire length of the hoses.
I'm thinking of sealing the inside of the hoses to prevent leaks until I can replace them over the winter. My thought is to make sure the hoses are dry, then seal the outside of the scupper fitting at the transom, then slowly add a liquid sealant (like Flex Seal, or maybe something with a lower viscosity) to the floor drain until I can see the sealant in the floor. Let it sit for a while to penetrate the cracks, then drain the excess sealant at the transom fitting. Maybe blow air through the floor drain after draining to minimize the reduction in cross sectional area of the hose- I'm just trying to put a thin coat of sealant inside the hose. It might provide a little (probably not much) additional strength to the hose?
What do you think- will it work and provide some benefit?
