265 Transducer placement

Upgrading some electronics and will be putting in a new transducer. I have a thru hull now but it likes to lose bottom alot. The boats an 01' and I was thinking of putting in the M260 shoot thru. There is not alot of room for it but there are shelfs holding the oil tank on each side in the bilge area. I was thinking of cutting a hole large enough to glass in the box on the bottom. It's a perfect spot. It gets me up past the water intakes for the washdown and livewell. Any thoughts? Anyone else running this transducer in a 265?

I tried looking all over the boat bottom for a transducer - just wasnt comfortable with it - I went with the standard transom mount and it is fine - it does lose bottom at 30 mph
