Hi Guys. I would like to know from owners of Islanders if any of you have twin 150s/175s, and if so, how your boat performs. The maximum HP for the Islander is 400hp ( 2x 200hp w/ twins), but I would like if someone has twin 150s or even twins 175's give me some information on those HPs.
Thanks.
PS: I have a single F250 and feel it's underpowered, so thinking of getting twins, that's the reason for the question.

You didn't get your answer the last time? If I re-power it will be with 200 hp 4-cylinder engines. I don't need the HP but it can't hurt.

The obvious question is “What do you hope to accomplish?". More top end speed? Better mid-range? Better hole shot? Improved sea keeping?

What are your numbers? Are you turning your props up to the right RPM's? Are your props loaded properly? Are you sure your getting everything out of your F250? PropGods.com 4-blade props made a game changing improvement in my boats performance. My 1997 Islander with twin F150's and appropriate 4-blade props works well.

Twin conversion and new engines are a lot of work and expense to do to a 25 year old boat. 27' LOA and 8'6" beam you don't really have the waterline length to run more than 28 knots (my boat high cruise) in flat seas. If your running around Lake Worth maybe but outside forget it.
