I have a 2000 272 sailfish
,and would like to upgrade to 250 4 strokes. Not sure about weight, etc. any body with experience? Would add about 175 pounds at the transom.
Thanks

You probably don't have a capacity plate at the helm, but there should be information in your manual (can be downloaded) about max HP. For a definitive answer though, contact Grady directly - they're very helpful. I would think you should be just fine - but double check.

You may have to raise your scuppers, I raised my 3” on 1994 sailfish. What motors are you thinking?

Was thinking about a pair of 06 250 four stroke Yamahas

I used the Yamaha 4.2L , weight on those motors 562lbs . The boat also step up at the transom , the 2000
runs all the way back should handle more weight.

I believe your max hp is 500 , I have a 282 with f250 3.3L. I wouldn't go above that.

I repowered mine with F250 4.2 L and I would not want anything more than that on it. Great power thrust but rarely do we use the top end of the speed range with the ocean water chop. Assuming your hull can handle the weight you will be more than happy with 500 HP.

500 is the max hp. X2 on checking the scuppers. if you can have a buddy stand on the aft end while in the water you can gage if your scuppers are near the water line. Might be a good time to check the scupper drain hoses and thru hulls (if plastic).
