Are they discontinued? And if so, why were they? Thanks!

It is discontinued, GW had come out with the Chesapeake which was 29 feet vs the 28 foot Sailfish. They said the models were too close in size to each other. The Chesapeake has since been discontinued. The Chesapeake had a wider beam and a significantly larger price tag.

In 2009 GW replaced the 282 Sailfish with the 290 Chesapeake. The 290 was last offered in 2015. I remember at the time the major reason behind the small incremental change in size was to accommodate a generator, which the Sailfish couldn't fit. I think the 30' Marlin is a lot more boat than the 290 and only a small difference in length...

Very hard to find 07 and 08 Sailfish as the economy crashed and dramatically curtailed production.

Is the 28 Sailfish Simply the old 25 Sailfish with an integrated bracket?

Harpoon. I believe the 272 Sailfish was, essentially a 25 with a molded-in bracket. But the 282 sailfish extended the running bottom the full length of the bracket. This may have been done to support the weight of four-stroke engines.

The euro-style transom started in the mid-90s IIRC. It made the running surface longer and wider. Some don't like them but most of the boats went that direction. I personally love that style.
