I have a 2017 grady 307 - it has a factory installed sureshade
anyone know where they put the control box?

It is stuck out and has crocked bars now - I think one of the arms stopped working.
They are about 10" off now.

not quite sure how to handle this - need to take the whole thing down?

what do I do now?

any advice would be sincerely appreciated

thanks

Ouch. I'd shoot GW Cust Service an email and see if they can help.

yeah, I did that - being sunday and needing immediate help - not much came from the site.

but, happy ending - sureshade does have very informative videos on line and I did find the control unit - I was able to retract the arms and get the thing back in the 'start' position.

That's good. Too much complexity, bling and features being built into boats these days to drive cost and margins in my book. Most are really not needed in a boat and simply are areas that will give owners a lot of trouble in the future.

We have the same problem with the SureShade on our 2016 307 Grady. I'm trying to locate the control box. Can you tell me where it is so I can do the troubleshooting that is offered? Thank you.

Believe it is located in the hardtop under the access panel in the center/front of the hardtop. Have to pull down the panel held in place with velcro-like fixation points.

My sureshade completely failed within the first year. Luckily it was still under warranty and the dealership/Grady fixed it. The starboard side pole was loose and the motor no-workie. The dealership took a motor off a new boat and put it in mine. My buddy has a manual sureshade that you have to crank open by hand. Almost wish I had that. I have a feeling this thing is going to be a consistent problem.

The sureshade control on my 2016 330 Express is located on the starboard cockpit side behind a starboard panel. I think its the same panel to access the hot water. I've played with that control panel quite a few times to get my shade to extend evenly and also contact the upper hooks with the correct pressure to hold the shade but not stress the canvas. It's actually fairly easy to do. Sureshade posts some really good videos on you tube to show you how. BTW I also took the whole canvas shade down to have it restitched on the end where it protrudes from the hardtop. The sun got to that end and the stitching came apart. It was a pretty easy one man job and again the you tube was excellent. Definitely a do-it-yourself item.

On the 335 it is behind the dash board at low level accessible from head compartment.
I hade a problem with one side not working at all and was in touch with shureshade service and they were fantastic in all ways. Finally it turned out it was inside the Deutsch connector going to the controller that the problem was. One lead was broken inside the connector and had most likely been like that upon installation. It had intermittent contact when touching the cable.......
Anyway has worked fine since then, knock on wood.
