Hello everyone, I'm about to buy a new Next Gen 5.5 generator and I was wondering if anyone has installed the Next Gen 5.5 model before. Did you have issues making it fit in the hole? Did you have to disassemble the generator. One of the technicians that was going to install the generator doesn't want to install it now because its a Next Gen. He says that the last Next Gen he had to put in a tight spot he had to disassemble the generator and the pulleys never aliened correctly again.

My buddy just put a fisher panda 5K in his. Needed some work but went right in.

The 5.5 is supposed to be smaller than the 'competition' but I am not sure if that comparison holds true when the sound deadening enclosure is installed.
It also looks like the pulleys are on the front that would face forward in the hull. I don't see how that makes it necessary to remove the pulleys to install. That said, even if it did, I don't understand why a decent mechanic couldn't line the pulleys up.

Yea its been tough to find people to trust in Miami. If you guys know of people to install a generator in Miami please let know.

Does Next Gen have authorized dealers and possible installers? I would call and ask.

All the installers that next gen trust are in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm. I'm in Miami Blackpoint Marina.

If that is the case, how would you deal with any warranty issues that require repairs? I think that availability of authorized service might favor a different product.

It is a relatively short boat ride from South Miami to Fort Lauderdale, I’d opt to have it done with one of the recommended installers.

I'm hearing a lot of good feedback from Bones Generator Service in Miami.
