Does anybody have 330 express with twin 300? What is your fuel burn?

Prop size?

You are WAY out of operating range for those motors. I believe you optimally need to be at 5600-6000 with those motors.

Actually, I can’t even believe that’s right, even with wrong size props and they are definitely wrong. Are the motors trimmed all the way out at WOT a the stated 5000?

Just to be clear: You're running the F300 4.2L Offshores right? (not the old HPDIs)

Here's what Grady publishes for the F300 4.2L specs on their website. I have the F250 4.2L on mine and the numbers up to about 4200 RPM are pretty much the same (though I rarely see 1.2mpg -- my best cruise is 30mph at 1.1)

So something is definitely wrong -- you seem to be overpropped (what exact props are you running), but I don't think that would account for the entire performance problem. Are your props definitely in good shape? Your motors may not be making their full power.

As soon as Hurricane blows out of Fla, going for my 3rd set of props since March 2019, boat came with 15 inch SDS, changed to 17s good numbers,4200 RPMs 25.4 knts 4300 RPM 26.5 knts- 4700 RPM 30.5 knts, Had a 34 Pursuit and went to 4 blades big difference in rough water also on plane at lower RPM, trying 16 inch POWER TECH -4 BLADE THIS Friday ,will let you know the outcome, my 17 inch averaged about 1 MPG up to 5000 RPM turning 5500RPM TOP ,just under 40 knts, Looking for more bite and better control with the 4 blades.Dont know why my profile saids Express 265- mine is 2006 33 EXPRESS -F300 YAMs

My 330 powered with 2016 Suzuki 250’s got 1.26 mpg in 800 mile trip from Naples FL to Myrtle Beach SC. Obviously various fuel loads from full to 1/4 full and all different speeds in all different sea conditions. My cruising speed was mostly between 29 and 31 mph.

How did you make out? I just put Powertech 4 blade 16x16’s on my Suzuki DF250AP motors on my 2002 330 Express. I’m hitting 6000 rpm WOT trimmed all the way down with 150 gal of fuel and 15 gal of water and one 120lb passenger and no gear. If I trim up more then 5% I hit the rev limiter at 6100. I sent an email to Powertech to see what he thinks? I figure with full load heading off shore or cruising she should be just right. 6DE1D2A9-6154-417D-8562-BF4FFABC9DC4.jpeg

I ran offshore today in my 2006 330 Express with brand new Yamaha F300s on it. I had four grown men, was 15 gallons shy of the full fuel load, and had a large cooler full ice...and all the other crap people bring on the boat. It was about as calm as it could be for most of the ride out and in. I was varying speeds as part of the break-in period. Running 26-28 mph turning 4300 rpm you are looking at 1 mile per gallon. Pushing up into the low to mid 30 mph range at 4800 rpm I was down to .7-.8 miles per gallon. FYI, my boat tops out on the low-40s at 6000 rpm.

That thing could comfortably cruise fully loaded at 35, but I was getting nauseous looking at the fuel burn at those speeds! I will say that it seemed to "want" to be in that low to mid 30 mph range. When I bumped it back down in to the mid-to-high 20's, it didn't seem to ride as well.

I spoke with Marcus at PowerTech a little while ago. He confirmed what I thought. Keep the 16’s. He was blown away by the picture above. It represents 88% propeller efficiency. It looks like the 330 Express gets better mileage with 250’s then 300’s or 350’s. It is phenomenal fuel mileage at 1.41 mpg at 28.8 mph. I’ll give up the couple mph for the fuel efficiency since we are planning long range cruising. My top speed at 6000 is 36.6 mph . The 300’s hit over 40 and The 350’s will push the boat over 50 so there’s a huge difference at the top end but only a few mph at 4500 rpm.
With that said. If I was picking the new motors. I bought the boat after the repower. I would have gone with the 300 Suzuki’s.EDD23B23-6302-4774-80C3-6B4836F39D09.jpeg
