if the button is pushed in they can not open until you push it again and the button pops out and unlocks the cabinets. Also, be sure to keep the bolts on the freezer and ref drawers in the locked position. Same thing will happen, take a hit from a very large wave and it could tilt you enough to pop them open. I find that I always close the toilet lid, secure the cabin sliding door, any other loose things when I'm underway. If it moves, secure it while you are sitting still.
You never know when you will encounter a rough patch of sea, large boat wakes, whatever, and its easier for me to do 3 min of prep than deal with repairs and/or damage to my boat.
