4 strokes on older sailfish

Just had a powerhead go on a 95 evinrude oceanpro 200 (630 hours 1995 Sailfish27). Anyone know if i could go to 4 stroke suzukis? Looks like a pair would be about 220 pounds more, would this lower the scuppers too much?

Get 4 sacks of 50lb Quickcrete or sand and put it on the transom. Try to load it up as you normally would to fish. That will give you an idea of where your scuppers will be.

put 250lbs on the transom (me and a large paint bucket :wink: ) and the scuppers hardly moved. how much would full gas tanks matter? currently have about 110 gallons of 202 total capacity.

i ve got twin 4s zuke 175's on my '89 252g. the scuppers drain slow and not completely. i had to repaint the waterline - up 2-3" at the stearn.

BTW- I love my zukes and I dont mind the wet feet

The extra gas is about 600# but it depends on which tank takes the majority of the 100 gallons (150 main and 50 aux). For a fast guestimate, have a guy stand over the aux tank and you with the bucket between the motors. If you're OK with the level go for the Zukes.

Went thru the same thing - went with Etecs- if you decide not to repower I have a good running 96 Ocenan Pro 200 with a newly rebuilt ( June of this year) lower unit as wellas a spare for parts . Running engine is standard rotation, parts unit is counter rotation. I will make you a deal on the pair.

The '89 was rated 400 HP, the 200 HP V6 johnny/rudes are about the same weight as the in line 4 cylinder Suzie 175s.
