The bilge pump on my boat is shot. It was a Rule 1000. Is this the right size pump for the boat? Also, on the console the bilge pump switch has on, off and standby. Does the standby position allow for automatic operation if the pump has a float switch? thanks.

Yes your are correct on the switch positions. Standby is so your bilge pump can operate when it needs to. I dont know the recommended size but dont think you could go to big, too small yes.
