Getting ready to put fuel in but I was wondering is there a way to flush out the tank without removing it from the boat? Do you think this is necessary? Previous owner said there has not been gas in the tank for about a year and a half.

Should be a hatch you can pop up over tank sending unit. Then be sure all batteries are disconnected, and remove screws holding sending unit and sending unit, and use flashlite to view down into tank.

Did you ask why no fuel had been in the tank? Real good chance one that old has developed a leak ... :?

I am familiar with the inspection hatch you mentioned. If the tank does have some sludge or dirt at the bottom is there a cleaner I can spray or pour in to clean it?

I have cleaned out fuel tanks by using an electric fuel pump. After opening the top of the tank, raise the boat high in the front to allow any sludge/junk/water to go to the rear of the tank. Using a long suction hose on the pump, work it in and around the lowest portion of the tank(s). Keep checking your discharge container and look for clean fuel. We did this on a large tank and was amazed at the trash that we got out. Afterwords use a suitable aftermarket product to control moisture and catch some fish!!! Hope this helps.
