I removed the hatch covers last night as they need attention. Not a bad winter project. Has anybody had these fabricated from King Starboard? That could be a nice clean looking option perhaps.
Thanks.

The hatches are fiberglass? Do they just need to be recored (easy) or are they damaged? If they're damaged beyond repair... or beyond what you want to deal with, anyways, sure HDPE can be a good solution. Although I've found HDPE to be a more time consuming when it comes to keeping it clean. Do some searches for JBrinch on this website - he fabricates hatches out of starboard, if you don't want to do it yourself.

You are correct. I would have a pro do it. The originals can be repaired easy enough. Color never comes close though.

Agree on the color thing - it's sometimes to hard to do that with a newer boat. It gets harder as boats age and takes an experienced eye to do that. I do NOT have that experience!

Harpoon,
I did this last year on my '96. I used 3/4 starboard in seafoam color and it is a nearly perfect color match. I bought the panels cut to size and used a router with a template bit to round the corners (using the original covers as a template) and then a quarter-round bit to put a round edge on the top. Same hinges, same hardware. Total cost - about $75

Art, that is exactly what I have in mind. I'm not skilled in these things, but I'm pretty sure I know the right guy. Thanks!
How was your season with the new 300?

This was my first complete season with the 23 GS and it was very good. Once I changed the prop it was like getting a +50HP repower.

Had a great season with the 300 - lovin' it. Very happy with the Gulfstream and only have some "freshening up" projects for the winter.
