I have to replace the fuel management gauge on my 268 Islander and I have a question. I pulled the 6 screws and the front plate to expose the back of the gauges but the plug for the FMG runs down under the compass area, how is this accessed? Is it from under the helm or a panel in the head. I did not have a lot of time to look I was just checking to see how much of a hassle it will be when the new gauge comes in.

The angled section above the head is removable. Ours had three screws on the forward edge, and a few more under the forward edge. A bit of a challenge to hold it in place while getting the screws out. I modified ours by putting a piano hinge on the aft, bottom edge - much easier to remove the three screws on the forward edge and just let the whole section swing down.

Thanks Brian, I was able to access it from under the helm. The factory had the harness tie wrapped tight near the windshield washer/fire ext. area,I just had to cut 1 zip tie to get some extra harness.
