I recently purchased a 2001 226 Seafarer and the wiper arm appears to be positioned too low (sweep is over both windows instead of just the captain's side). I once had this issue on an old truck and was able to release a catch, remove the wiper, and reinstall at a better angle. I am not sure I will ever use the wiper and maybe that is why the previous owner shifted it lower so it was out of the field of view.

So do people end up using their wipers?

and

How do you re-position the wiper?

Yes, I use mine all of the time. I had an issue with mine sweeping too far to the STBD and it actually scratched the glass on the windshield curve.

The only way I know how to adjust is to make note of the current position and then pop the arm off and rotate in the desired direction. There is a little keeper tab that holds the arm on and you can see it from the cockpit. I used a scribe to disengage the tab and a flat-head screwdriver to pop the arm off. I wire-brushed the shaft and put a little grease on the splines before reinstalling.
It might take more than one attempt to find the right spot.
