I have a 1995 Adventure 208. Its seems to be taking on alot of water all the time. Every time I bring it home on the trailer after 1 day on the water I pump out 5 to 10 gallons from the drain hole in the floor of the v-berth. I can't seem to find out where the water's coming in. I'm going to try and replace all the outside thru hulls, deck/fish well and bait well drains. I have two questions.
(1) Would unscrewing the hatch covering the fuel tank give better access to the helm or fish /bait well drains?
(2) Do i have to cut away some of the blown in foam around the fish and bait well tanks?
I would appreciate and input from anyone who has ever done this job. Thanks Davd Olson

David,

I have a similar issue with my 1993 Grady 208. Would you mind indicating what the problem was and how you solved it?

After opening up the inspection plate at the aft end of the fish well, I removed a whole lot of blown in foam around the fish well so I could get to the elbow underneath. While in the process of removing the hose the plastic thru hull snapped in half. I replaced it with a Forespar Marelon 1" thru hull with hose barb PN: 906026 bought at West marine for $15.99. The water leak was at the elbow where it's connected to the bottom of the fish well. I removed the fitting, elbow and hose from the tank. This whole connection is a poor design. In order to tighten the elbow against the drain fitting you must put a screwdriver down inside the fitting from the top to keep it from turning. The fitting is made of plastic and you can't put enought pressure on it to tighten securly without breaking the plastic tabs inside the fitting. I ordered a 316 SS and bronze one piece deck drain with nut/elbow and 1" hose barb from GROCO PN: HTHC-1000-S for $45.00 + shipping. Now I'll have a Marelon thru hull sitting under water (which will not rust or corrode) and a one piece fitting for the fish well drain. I hope this make sense. I just could not see puting it back together like it came from the factory. I'm going to do this also to my (2) floor drains under the helm and mabe the bait well tank also. They all have the same stupid connection. If you have any questions post a response. Grady208
