Hello. I just bought a new (to me) 2004 208 and it has a cheapo Aluminum prop on it and want to get it replaced. I am looking at what pitch, diameter, and brand/model I want. I'm not sure if I should stick with Yamaha SWS II or look at the Merc Mirage plus? What do you all run on your 208's with a F200 or 225? What kind of performance do you get? I am looking for good cruising fuel economy.

Also, do I need to purchase anything additional if I go with a Merc prop?

Thank you in advance for your time and replies!

You are on the right track to consider the Mirage+. You may want to consider the cheaper, but identical (sans the holes and plugs) quicksilver Thunderbolt version. 15 1/4x 17" would be my suggestion for that setup.

I ran a mirage plus on my 208 with SWS200 and now have the Quicksilver prop with an F200 on a 205T. Better bow lift, midrange efficiency and top speed than the Yamaha SWS props I replaced on all 3 Gradys I've owned.

I would estimate midrange mpg of 3.5 at 3700 rpm/26 mph and WOT of 44 with that setup. What are you getting now?

Keep an eye on Ebay for new props at used prices.

Thanks for the reply. I am getting about 4.0mpg at 27mph cruise 3900 rpm. WOT is about 44-45 with two adults on board.
