My aft bilge float switch is not working. Does anyone have any tricks to get at it? I have pretty long arms being 6'3", but thats not working. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
If it's a Rule, (Rule-a-matic) float switch, and you don't have a guard over it, you only need to remove the one screw, (opposite side of the paddle) and slide the entire switch out from the remaining screw. The mounting area under the float paddle is slotted.
Hopefully the float paddle is facing aft... if not, it's gona be tougher to get at. Either way, under the engine is a beatch. :x
If all else fails, leave the old one there. Get a new switch and mount it in a location that you can reach, but still floats before the bilge water gets too high.
I never was able to get mine out..The switch was turned so the slot was the wrong way and I couldn't reach..Bought an electronic switch and mounted where I could reach it and rewired.Left the old one in... Some people i now mount the swich on a long piece of 2"aluminum stock..Then just fasten the top when you get it where you want..You'll always have access then.
