I use 25' Really depends on where you anchor (depth & bottom) Make sure you use the correct rope & add a swivel between chain & anchor
I have 30-feet of 1/4-inch chain, and 300-feet of windlass grade rode. Make sure you get the correct chain for a windlass, i.e. proof coil or BBB, not the stuff from the local home & garden shop. Same with the rode - windlass grade line has a harder finish and will not deteriorate in the gypsy the way softer line will.
