I have good power at the switch, but the tester does not light up when I test the end of the wire where I am connecting a new anchor light. Any suggestions? Also the new light has three wires and the boat wire has just two. Can they be connected? The new light is a pergo with a red, white and black wire, and the boat is just red and black. But for now the big problem is no power at the end of the wire.

Thanks,
John

I would guess somewhere in that wire is a break or maybe a butt connector gone bad. Just a thought but that always seems to be the case for me when I have power coming out of a switch but nothing at the other end.

Agree with got grady... could be a broken but connector. Check continuity, (ohm meter) between switch and wire end. Check ground too.

The reason there are 3 wires on the new light is, because some all-around/anchor lights have 2 bulbs and others have just one. On the 2 bulb models, the forward bulb for for nav and both bulbs together are for anchor. Just join the red and white wires together on the new light and connect it to your red wire. Both bulbs will light up for either nav or anchor.
