I posted some questions awhile back, but encountered some new issues....
I removed original pedestal post, cleaned up and epoxied core to avoid rot. My plan was to reinsert the post with JB weld into the original bracket which is mounted on the underside/inside the box.
Unfortunately, I can’t get the base bracket square.... maybe because of some core softness....
My current thought is to purchase a modern pedestal base and post, and trim the aluminum base on the inside as I have seen in this site.
Then, through bolt with 5200 which will allow me to get it square.

all the pedestal posts I’ve seen have 2 7/8” posts, the originals are 2 1/2”.....therefore the original seat won’t fit directly. Can I bolt the top flange to the original seat?
The pic is the wise pedestal I’m looking at.
