Hello All,
I just recently purchased and fixed up a 2001 Grady White 265 Express. I am looking to see if anyone out there has put in Automatic Trim Tab Controls on their Grady's? I've been doing some research and a number of highlighted ones I've read up on have a number of cons to them. Looking for recommendation(s) on ones boat owners are happy with and I can look into those. TIA

I suppose it depends on what brand tab system you have. Bennett? At a quarter century old, it could be anything. Assuming Bennett... Bennett's system works as intended - have used that plenty of times. Mente makes one that I've read other's using with good marks - and I believe the install is a little simpler. Either of those shoudl do you fine.

265s have special short actuators. The sensor in the new kit won't work on the existing pistons. the shaft is short.

I looked into it in the past. I'll try to find that thread.

Also, tabs on 265x suck and hurt more than they help. Put em up, pull the fuse. :)

Thanks Dennis. I don't know what make the current manual ones are but I'll look into Bennett and Mente.

So I can't find the threads were we lamented 265 express trim tabs. Must have been someone elses thread. I would have tagged it 265 express and Trim Tabs.
The jist of it is that they will yank the boat over when you turn a few degrees.
If you had indicators it might help. There was a kit that would add a sensor for tab position and an indicator/switch panel. I researched and got all the specs and the special short actuators would prevent using the upgrade kit. I would have to special order a new complete set with indicator panel. Not worth it for me. I just pulled the fuse.

I don't know the latest offering from Bennet and Lenco.
The existing are Bennet.
