Hi,
I have installed a helm based (Lowrance NAC-1) autopilot on my 272, but I have not splashed the boat yet. I'm accustomed to the Garmin Gold AP that I had on my kicker before (loved it), so I wonder whether the main motor AP would steer with a kicker powering the boat. I thought that maybe I could leave the main motors in the water and let them do the steering while a removable kicker provided the power. Think this is possible and might it work as an interim solution? I realize there are many factors at work, but this had me thinking this morning...
