Has anyone ever buried their Yamaha four stroke(s) while backing into seas? I'm curious as to how easily these engines could be drowned/flooded/stalled etc. If this did happen to you, what was the remedy?

I was in short period 3'-5' yesterday and had to be careful not to over wash my engine. We had an awesome day fishing once the seas calmed a bit.

Thanks,

Larry

Make sure both are running when you do this.

I wouldn't.

If the motor injests water in the intakes, total loss.

Give your fishermen stand-up gear and turn the boat so to fish off beam and quarter beam and can go chase the fish if you have to. USe the same technique used to chase after a snagged line.

I'd turn down the drag and fight like there is no backup for the line on my reel. If its gets spooled off I get to fish no more that day.
