Battery question!

2001 Marlin with 4 batts.

Yesterday I looked in to see the tray of two of my batts had some water in them and a little on top of the batts. I touched the "water" and it burned so I knew it was battery acid. The batts are about 2 years old as is the Grady dealer installed onboard charger. I leave the charger ON all the time that it's at the dock. Can it be overcharging or cooking the batts? I of course turned off the charger.......

Ideas? Suggestions? Advice?

Turn the charger back on and check the voltage being put into the battery. Initially it might be high, say 14 -15 volts. If it's 15 or greater it is probably overcharging. Once fully charged the voltage should drop to around 13V. If you can get the specs on the charger it should be easy to check its performance.

Good chance. Check the electrolyte, it'll probably be low ... :?

The house bank on my Guest would not shut off and fried 2 batteries.
Engine banks were fine.
